How to Frost a Glass

Want to retain your privacy? Glass frosting is a graceful way to make your glass opaque while maintaining your privacy. We have carefully selected some glass frosting methods for retaining your privacy.

  • Etching creams

To give your glass a permanent frosting look, etching cream is the best option to choose from. Before you coat your entire glass surface with the etching cream, make sure to test it on a small glass patch.

Method

  1. Take a painter’s tape and mask all the sensitive areas of glass where you don’t want to apply cream, e.g. borders.
  2. Use a brush and apply a gentle layer of cream onto your glass
  3. Let the cream sit on your glass surface for a couple minutes or as mentioned in the instructions
  4. Use warm water to rinse the cream off.
  • Widow Non-Adhesive

Another easy way to frost your glass is by using window adhesives which are removable. The good thing about this frosting technique is that if you ever want to get your transparent glass look back, you can peel the window film off from your glass.

Method

  1. Wash the surface of the glass and dry it
  2. Take a spray bottle, add some water with a few dish detergent drops, and shake it.
  3. Spray the surface of the glass lightly.
  4. Start applying the window film by using a squeegee to remove any air bubbles
  • Spray Paint

Spray paints have made our lives very easy. We can use spray paints on basically everything, including our glass, for frosting purposes. One great thing, if you don’t like it, you can remove it with a glass scraper.

Method

  1. Clean the glass surface thoroughly
  2. Tape off all the edges and frame of windows with painters’ tape
  3. Spray a thin coat of paint
  4. Let the surface dry before applying additional coats
